Ever
go to a foreign country and lay your favorite pick up line
on a local gal only to get slapped, later to find out flattery
in the US is darn right insulting in another country?
More specifically, as one of our founding contributors discovered,
"pissed" is angry in the US, but drunk in the
UK, resulting in being sent home early as his boss thought
him to be drunk as opposed to angry.
We here at Pub Translations aim to provide you with a resource
to ensure that you are properly pissed in America when your
underling messes up the big project, and properly pissed
in the UK for your best friend/mate's bachelor/stag party.
We are here for you.
Feel free to submit any slang, phrases, translations, and
so forth, to us and we will add it to the pile. Also, feel
free to share nay humorous tales inspired by nights at the
pub, or jokes from your favorite bartender, just email us
at: submit@pubtranslations.com

"Lacing Dasies" |
|
An
expression in the UK usually used by wives and girlfriends
at the end of the evening when two blokes who have
just met get on really well. If they are chatting
easily by the end of the evening they may be said
to have 'Been lacing daisies into each others hair'
Not a homosexual thing at all
